Chicago Shoreline Marathon
Saturday August 28, 2010 Come out and paddle with and for us! We’re participating in the Chicago Shoreline Marathon again this year. We’re looking for experienced paddlers to paddle with our youth in the relay portion of the race; beach helpers to help with on-land logistics; and racers who will race, and raise money for CAT in the process. We had three youth paddle in the realy last year, the first time we participated in this race. It was the best part of the summer!

Chicago Flatwater Classic
Sunday October 3, 2010 Want to paddle calmer waters? Come join us on the only race on the Chicago River! The Friends of the Chicago River organize this race, and they have generously agreed for the second year in a row both to let our youth race for a discounted price, and to let us use it as a fundraiser for CAT. This is similar to the Shoreline Marathon – we’re looking for experienced paddlers to paddle with our youth for the 7.5 miles from Clark Park to Ping Tom Park. We’re also looking for racers who will race, and raise money for CAT in the process. This is a fantastic paddle through the heart of Chicago.

Community Opportunities

Christ Church Rummage Sale
Thursday October 7, 2010 CAT received a generous grant from the Benevolence Committee at Christ Episcopal Church in Winnetka, IL. Christ Church holds two annual rummage sales, and donates the proceeds to many local organizations through a competitive grant process. Their fall rummage sale is Thursday, October 7. We’d like to thank them for their gift by sending a team of CAT volunteers to help with the rummage sale – it takes a lot of people to make this sale happen!

would you like to help out in another way?
CAT is still a young organization, and growing in leaps and bounds! If you have a skill or a talent that you’d like to share, and we haven’t asked for it in the above listings, it doesn’t mean we don’t want to hear about it. We can probably use your skill or talent! Contact us to talk more.
